Greg Kwiatkowski
I am a Charging and Convergence Solution Architect with 10+ years of experience in large-scale BSS solution architecture, application design, development and sales engineering.
I work for Nokia Siemens Networks, North America as a Solutions Consultant in the telecommunications Business Solutions unit.
During my school years, I developed several microcontroller-based systems for local businesses. This work involved an end-to-end design and development of hardware, microcontroller firmware, ASIC logic and operating system drivers. Projects included phone-voting system for local radio station, multi channel optical S/PDIF PCI board based on Motorola DSP and Xilinx FPGA, solar tracker device for orienting solar thermal panels, UI module for commercial radio transceiver. These early projects helped me gain experience in agile development and cost control.
After having obtained my MSC degree, with a specialization in computer science, I began working for Comarch, a telecommunications software vendor and integrator. One of my first assignments was to develop a web based front-end JSP application, part of an order management and IP billing solution implemented for Tier 1 communications service provider. It was integrated with Oracle DB Enterprise, IBM Tivoli and Sun iPlanet products as well as distributed LDAP directory used for service provisioning. When working with this demanding customer, I was able to gain experience in cross-department requirements gathering and analysis, risk management, UML design, J2EE development, unit and integration testing, bug fixing, and acceptance testing.
Increasingly popular VoIP technology and the beginning of the all-IP revolution in the early 2000s created a strong demand for a new category of telecommunications business support systems. I become a lead designer of Identity and Policy Management system for telecommunications data services. I worked with clients to understand their changing business models, performed requirements gathering, created system design and object models in Rational Rose UML and provided technical product management.
When Comarch expanded business in the US and Latin America, I relocated to Miami, FL with mandate to build and lead a Solution Architecture team for these two regions. It was the time when CALA markets deregulated and US market opened for mobile virtual networks (MVNO). I was engaged in a design of online charging and convergent business support solutions for telecommunications service providers. Components of these solutions included Comarch BSS/OSS software and services, Oracle RAC, Veritas Cluster and NetBackup, BEA Weblogic, Sun and EMC storage arrays, Sun, HP and IBM servers, VMWare virtualization software, RHEL and Solaris operating systems. Services scope included integration to Cisco, Nortel, Siemens, Ericsson and Alcatel network elements, CRM, ERP and data warehousing; subscriber data migration; managed services; training and support.
Now, as a Solutions Consultant at Nokia Siemens Networks, I am responsible for top-line growth of BSS Business Line in North America. I prove solution benefits to customers by demonstrating technical capabilities and business case while understanding customer priorities and multi-vendor installed base. I identify key stakeholders in customer’s organization, actively communicate and network with key people. I drive definition and creation of Online Charging, Convergent Billing and Mediation solutions and bring relevant experts to sales project to ensure technically and commercially successful solution creation. I also frequently interact with Solution Portfolio development teams to ensure solution repeatability.
